A Little Perspective

This is a digression from my usual posts. Once you've watched this amazing video, I hope you'll understand why.

It is the same story, but it is still working from what I can see. Hmmm...

Really? I found that to be supremely condescending in its tone of basically "retard actually has talent, so he's kinda normal but not really!"

Still gives me goose-bumps when I see it. The movie rights were purchased over a year ago and it's probably in production by now.

Jeremy...retard is not the perferred nomenclature; it's autistic. And I think ANYONE out there understands the significance of this story. No "really?" necessary.

@Jeremy - I watched it again to make sure I wasn't missing something. I'm not sure what world view you're coming from that makes you think that, but I don't get it.

@76 - "You said it, man."

@seventy-six yes that's why i put it in quotes, that seemed to me to be the tone of the piece.

I remember seeing this not long after CBS first aired it. It left a bad taste then, and it still does.

I have to side with Jeremy a bit on this... this feel-good piece would make me feel a LOT better, had someone actually recognized the kid's talent and suited him up for real. Not just throw the poor kid a bone in the last game, only to be astounded by the shooting clinic he puts on for all the "normal" kids.

In a way, I feel like this piece misses the real point, which is that the kid was denied opportunity because no one was willing to see past his disability.
